What is CATreatment?
CATreatment is a private psychotherapy practice dedicated to helping individuals regain control of their lives through compassionate, confidential addiction treatment. We work with professionals, executives, and individuals who value privacy and want thoughtful, personalized care in a respectful, nonjudgmental environment.
CATreatment supports people facing both substance-related and behavioral addictions. Whether someone is struggling with alcohol, prescription drugs, gambling, compulsive spending, or other patterns that interfere with wellbeing, our goal is to help clients better understand themselves and create lasting, meaningful change.
Treatment is always individualized, collaborative, and designed to fit each client’s personal and professional life.
CATreatment operates independently of insurance networks, allowing clients to seek care with greater privacy and flexibility. Within ethical and legal standards, confidentiality is handled with the highest level of discretion.
At CATreatment, we believe therapy should feel honest, supportive, and practical — a place where people can speak openly, gain clarity, and rebuild stability with dignity and respect
Our Mission
CATreatment’s mission is to provide confidential, individualized psychotherapy for professionals and individuals seeking meaningful, lasting change. We are committed to delivering discreet, nonjudgmental addiction treatment that respects privacy, dignity, and personal responsibility. Through thoughtful, insight-driven care, CATreatment helps clients understand the underlying patterns affecting their lives, restore stability, and develop healthier ways of living and working. Our goal is to create a trusted therapeutic environment where clients can speak openly, gain clarity, and move forward with renewed purpose and self-direction.

Treatment Approach
CATherapy does not view addiction as purely a medical problem.
Medication may help in some cases, but lasting recovery usually requires deeper work.
Therapy focuses on:
- personal responsibility
- insight and self-understanding
- behavioral change
- resolving emotional conflict
- addressing unresolved trauma
- recognizing unconscious patterns
The goal is to help individuals understand why they do what they do, and how to make lasting changes that improve their life.

For discerning individuals who seek confidential treatment.

Who is Fred Allen?
My name is Fred Allen, and I am a psychotherapist in Dayton, Ohio, with more than 40 years of experience treating addiction and mental health concerns. I earned my undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and my graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from Wayne State University. I have spent my career working with individuals struggling with substance abuse, including alcohol, opioids, methamphetamine, cocaine, and other addictive behaviors.
My primary focus is addiction therapy. I work with clients who are actively using, in early recovery, or struggling with relapse. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and existential psychotherapy, helping clients understand why they use substances, what emotional needs those substances serve, and how their personal history, relationships, and beliefs shape their behavior.
I do not view addiction as a purely medical problem or something that can be cured with medication alone. While medication can have a role, lasting recovery requires understanding responsibility, choice, meaning, and behavior. Therapy focuses on uncovering unconscious patterns, unresolved conflicts, and emotional pain that fuel substance use.
In addition to substance abuse, I also work with disordered eating and food-related addictions, which I see as part of a broader addiction spectrum influenced by modern food systems and cultural conditioning. However, substance use disorders remain the core of my practice.
